Jun-Jun (pilay) is now a Barangay Councilor

I was just recently informed that Jun-jun (pilay) won in the recent barangay election in Claveria. He is now a barangay councilor in Poblacion District No. 2, having "Punsitoy" as the Barangay Chairman and Tantoy Alim at Pob. No. 1.

Tia Onong Passed Away

Tia Onong, Papa's sister has passed away the other day and her wake is held at the church near their place (I presently don't know what the name of the church is) in San Pedro.

Both Titia Yolly and Tita Ruth del Rosario informed me about this the other day.

We will be visiting tonight at around 6pm.

Internment is still undetermined as they are still waiting for her other children to come back to the Philippines.

Menardo is councilor again!

Looks like, Menardo is up for is last term as Municipal councilor of Claveria, Masbate. Congratulations to my uncle. But what does this mean for the family? Looks like nothing. All the time that he's in the council, he has done a bit for the Montenegro family. He was asked by his "hermanos and hermanas" to at least push for the renaming of the district hospital after Mama or Papa to no avail. I again asked him a month ago, that if he wins, to push for the renaming, but he said that it would look like self-serving if he pushes for it! But it's his last term, so what's self-serving about it? Besides, he's been helping Eduardo Andueza  push for his selfish being!

A Crippled Mayor?

I just heard the news from a relative, that the corrupt former mayor of Claveria, Masbate was again elected and had a wide lead over his opponent, a son of also the former mayor of that town.

It just puzzles me how someone like him gets the vote of the populace everytime. Maybe simply because he's famous. For what? I don't know! That's why it's really mind-boggling to me. He's a known corrupt individual, I know this because of what he did to my father. This is Eduardo Andueza, who connived with the Municipal Board to transfer the Cockpit license, previously with my Dad, to someone who has not have the capacity to put up one. Very smart for him indeed, but everybody knows that he owns the place. He even has his "rest house" in the vicinity.

But without lifting a finger, I might say that karma has gone his way. He suffered a stroke, which they are passing as just a simple fatigue (oh come on, I'm a physician and I know a stroke even if someone just describes it from me). Now this brings me to his election. How do the people think he would lead them. How can he bring the town / municipality from getting out of the poorest province of the country if half of his body is flinging from paralysis? Is there a chance for the province? With this person at the helm, I don't think so! Every "project" he brings for the town, he get's 20% of it. No wonder he got rich so fast. But then again, I don't think he'll be there for long, things will come to place and Eduardo Andueza will be at the losing end. He might have one this election, but what ever is up for him is all with the Lord. But this I know, he will suffer and it would be easy.

Updates from the recent Claveria Visit

Some updates from the recent trip to Claveria:
- the commercial lots of Tita Nene and Tito Nono are enclosed in one fence and is seem to have been recently plowed (arado)
- the person who bought Tito Nono's property near Recudo is interested in the remaining lot
- Roads to Canomay, Madanlog and Buyo is now big enough (with some portions already concrete road) for jeepneys or vans
- incidentally, there are already L300 vans within the town (we actually rented one to get to San Isidro)
- San Isidro is eyed as a potential Beach hideaway (only problem at the moment is getting there)
- Tita Fe and me went around the 20 hectares to see/identify each property
- the old "turil" near "bokal" is so un-maintained and dirty
- road from Ligao to Pio Duran is 3/4 completed (concrete), only around 13 km left of rough roads
- Tita Ping is asking if she could have the Mausoleum extended so Michael's crypt could be covered as well

Stay tuned as I will be updating if I can remember more.
